The reasons Hidden Oaks has been identified as the preferred location include:

 Court Surface – The desire is to have a multiple court surface to allow
multiple play. There currently are two City owned tennis court surfaces
that are large enough to accommodate more than 2 pickleball courts,
Hidden Oaks and Hansen.
 Proximity to Other Tennis Courts – It is preferable to have an alternate
location that is close to any tennis courts that might be removed. The
courts at Pike Lake Kindergarten Center are approximately .7 miles from
the courts at Hidden Oaks. The closest courts to Hansen are
approximately 1.5 miles away.
 Use of the Courts – Parks and Recreation uses Hansen for its tennis
programming. Changing the location of programs may result in lower
participants.

At the May 10 PREC Meeting, PREC made a motion to invite the neighbors
surrounding Hidden Oaks to the June 7 meeting to join in the discussion about
this possibility. These invitations were mailed to 150 neighbors on May 12, 2017.

Staff is asking PREC to recommend retrofitting the current tennis courts at
Hidden Oaks into a six court pickleball surface to City Council.
