<br />MINUTES <br />New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br />Regular Meeting – August 2, 2017 <br />7:30 a.m. <br /> <br />Members/Liaisons Present: Chair Paul Zisla, Commissioners Bob Benke, Emily Dunsworth, Monica <br />Garcia-Perez, Rachel Nelson (arrived at 7:34 a.m.), Kevin Peck, Mike Murlowski, Harry Carter and <br />Graeme Allen <br /> <br />Members/Liaisons Absent: None <br /> <br />Staff Present: Janice Gundlach-Assistant Director of Community Assets & Development/Planning <br />Director, Craig Schlichting-Director of Community Assets & Development, Lauren Wheeler, Intern, and <br />Councilmember Gina Bauman <br />Also Present: <br />Call to Order <br />Chairperson Zisla called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. <br /> <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Motion by Commissioner Murlowski, seconded by Commissioner Allen to approve the agenda as <br />presented. <br /> <br />Approved 8-0 <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Motion by Commissioner Peck, seconded by Commissioner Carter to approve the minutes from the <br />December 2, 2017 meeting. <br /> <br />Approved 8-0 <br /> <br />Report from Council Liaison <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the City would have a booth at Stockyard Days in order to assist in <br />gaining feedback from the public for the Comprehensive Plan. She stated the Council recently reviewed <br />the budget and Commission Ordinance. She noted she attended a number of National Night Out parties <br />on Tuesday, August 1st. <br /> <br />Housing Programs – Discussion and Feedback <br />Gundlach provided the EDC with an update on the Housing Programs available in the City and reviewed <br />a memo completed by Intern Lauren Wheeler. She noted staff had provided the EDC with a copy of an <br />article detailing the housing programs in the City of Coon Rapids. She was pleased to report the City’s <br />single family housing stock was in very good condition. She stated her only concern with the City’s <br />housing stock would be with the duplex or multi-family units. <br /> <br />Chair Zisla thanked Intern Lauren Wheeler for her great work on this item. He discussed the history of <br />housing over the past two decades. He commented on the housing language within the Comprehensive <br />Plan and requested feedback on the City’s housing programs from the EDC members. <br /> <br />Commissioner Garcia-Perez commented on the various housing programs and stated she was in favor of <br />the EDC further discussing affordable housing. <br />
