January 9, 2018 <br />She noted the group received an update on the number of community rentals that occurred in <br />2017 and the number of visitors the new Eagle's Nest has had since its Grand Opening. She <br />thanked the Park and Recreation Department for all of their hard work to get the Eagle's Nest <br />reopened. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen congratulated the Mayor on her reelection and welcomed <br />Councilmembers Dunsworth and Allen to the City Council. He stated he enjoyed attending the <br />recent strategic planning session and was looking forward to a great 2018. He thanked <br />Councilmember Strub and Councilmember Bauman for their dedicated service to the City. He <br />reported the Public Safety Commission met on Monday, January 8th and discussed Police <br />training and education. He recommended the presentation from this meeting be forward to the <br />entire Council. He noted VIPS would be holding an American Cross Blood Drive on <br />Wednesday, December 17th at the Public Safety Center. He reported the 2018 fire prevention <br />calendars were available at City Hall, the New Brighton Community Center and the Public <br />Safety Center. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson stated she enjoyed her job as Mayor in New Brighton and she looked forward <br />to serving the community for the next two years. She discussed a recent article in the Star & <br />Tribune.
