She stated staff has requested to open up a passport office and was waiting to hear <br />back from the State. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> Staff discussed the Fast DS software program. <br /> The loss the City has endured due to the State’s mismanagement in mailing out tab <br />renewals was reviewed. <br /> The difference between the enhanced and Real ID was discussed. <br /> The Commission thanked staff for the thorough update on the City’s license bureau. <br /> <br />VI. Reports and Updates <br /> <br />A. Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br /> <br />Dave Mattson provided the Commission with an update from Allina Health. He reviewed <br />the calls for service in the community along with the response times through the month of <br />May. He explained he would continue to trend this information through the end of the year <br />and noted response times were improving due to better weather conditions. He described a <br />new drug Allina would be using to assist in opening airways. He thanked the New Brighton <br />Public Safety Department for including Allina in the recent training that occurred at the New <br />Brighton Elementary School. He provided further comment on the new CAD to CAD <br />system that had been launched. He discussed how Waze was being utilized to assist <br />ambulance drivers with bypassing road construction. <br /> <br />The Commission requested a graph or spreadsheet on how response times have been <br />impacted over the years by improved technology. Mr. Mattson commented he could provide <br />this information for the Commission at a future meeting. <br /> <br />B. Public Safety Update – Tony Paetznick, Public Safety Director <br /> <br />Director Paetznick provided the Commission with a calendar of upcoming events being <br />sponsored by the Public Safety Department. He noted Cops and Bobbers fishing event <br />would be held on Thursday, July 19th at the Long Lake boat launch from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. <br />He explained he would be presenting a life-saving award at the City Council meeting on <br />Tuesday, June 12th. He noted the Fill the Boot campaign would be held at the end of the <br />month. He indicated he would be attending the Inclusive Community Task Force meeting on <br />Monday, June 18th. He reported National Night Out would be held on Tuesday, August 7th. <br /> <br />Director Paetznick commented the training event held at the New Brighton Elementary <br />School was a great opportunity for emergency responders and was very well attended. He <br />stated boat patrol would be working on weekends and holidays throughout the summer <br />months. He noted the City had a garage fire in May at the Garden View Apartments. He <br />explained the Public Safety Department would be participating in a Build a Bike event noting <br />10 BMX bikes and helmets would be available to the public. Further discussion ensued <br />regarding calls for service in the community. <br /> <br />The Commission thanked Director Paetznick for opening up the active shooter training to the <br />Public Safety Commission to attend. <br />
