Ramsey County Sheriff’s Update – Sheriff Jack Serier <br /> <br />City Manager Lotter reported Ramsey County Sheriff Serier had a presentation for the Council. <br />Ramsey County Sheriff Serier thanked the Council for their time and reviewed the events occurring at the <br />Sheriff’s office. He explained 2017 was a big hiring year for his department and discussed how the County <br />was working to reach out to communities of color and other minority groups. He described the changes being <br />made at the jail and commented on the new scheduling model that would begin in January of 2018. He <br />reported the County would begin providing police services for Falcon Heights beginning next year. Further <br />discussion ensued regarding the County’s community engagement efforts. He thanked all of the New <br />Brighton residents for supporting the Fright Farm and discussed how funds from this event benefits the <br />residents of Ramsey County. <br />Councilmember Strub thanked Sheriff Serier for his time. He commented on the growing drug concerns in <br />the community and stated he appreciated the strong relationship the County had with the New Brighton <br />Public Safety Department. Sheriff Serier stated he was happy to work with the New Brighton Public Safety <br />Department to address the opioid concerns in the County. <br />Councilmember Burg thanked Sheriff Serier for his presentation. <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
