Paetznick, Director of Public Safety <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br /> <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report _______ Comments attached ______ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Authorize staff to replace the current SCBA containment center and compressor with the Bauer <br />Vertecon 6000psi open compressor system as specified. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />City Council adopted the 2018 Non-Fleet Capital Plan on December 12th, 2018. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />The cost to replace the current SCBA containment center and compressor system is anticipated to <br />be $37,087.30. The current Non-Fleet Capital plan has $50,700 budgeted for the replacement. <br /> <br />Explanation: <br />The SCBA containment center and compressor are utilized by the Public Safety Department to fill <br />self-contained breathing apparatus cylinders to provide air to breathe when conducting <br />firefighting and hazardous materials operations. The current system is 15 years old and scheduled <br />for replacement in the non-fleet replacement plan. As a result of the preventative maintenance <br />program as well as care staff take of equipment an extremely favorable trade in value was <br />received.
