Kelly Frush
New Brighton, Minn. 55112
Phone E-Mail

Terri Spangrud, City Clerk
City of New Brighton
803 Old Highway 8 NW
New Brighton, MN 55112

Dear Ms. Spangrud,

New Brighton has a reputation as being one of the best places to live in the Twin Cities metro
area. My family and I moved here several years ago and chose New Brighton because of its strong
homeowner’s market and great schools. I love living in New Brighton and now would like to start
giving back to my community through involvement with a city commission.

I learned about the city commissions last summer when I started looking at ways I could
contribute back to my community. I reached out at that time but found out that the application
deadline for city commissions was past, so I asked about other ways I could serve my community.
You recommended serving as an election judge. This was my first year serving as an election judge
and I really enjoyed the experience. I loved helping people vote, and felt happy to be a part of the
democratic process. I plan to continue with serving as an election judge whenever it is an election
year.

After the elections, I started thinking again about applying for a city commission. My experience
in the corporate world has provided me with analytical and organizational skills, so I want to
contribute those skills to the work of a city commission. I truly don’t have a preference about
working on any specific commission; I just want to get involved and work with other motivated
people to serve my community. My skills could benefit any of the commissions.

I manage several complex projects in my job at Medtronic and collaborate with colleagues from
all different functional areas—which is one of my fortes and favorite parts of my job. I also have
experience working in a regulated environment, so I understand the importance of policies,
procedures, and adhering to regulation in order to assure success.

I hope to feel like I’m doing something constructive to contribute to the work of New Brighton
and be a part of some positive change in our community. I would appreciate the opportunity to
discuss how my skills would benefit a city commission that has a resource need. Thanks for
considering me. If you have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Kelly Frush
