Proclamation <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS Janice Gundlach joined the City New Brighton on January 1st 2006; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS During the course of Janice’s 12 years of service she has filled the roles of City Planner, <br />Planning Coordinator and more recently, Assistant Director of Community Assets and <br />Development/Planning Director. Recognized as a valuable member of the team, each <br />of Janice’s promotions included an exponentially greater level of organizational <br />responsibility and impact to New Brighton as a community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS Janice has had a sizeable and noteworthy level of impact on New Brighton’s land <br />development through her handling of hundreds of land use applications, and <br />participating in two comprehensive plans (one complete redo in 2018). She has also <br />taken on special assignments that resulted in changing the City’s ordinances. Examples <br />of ordinances Janice worked on are the sign code amendments, a chicken and foul <br />ordinance, and a shore land ordinance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS Janice has been directly involved in a number of exciting building projects including <br />TUV SUD, API, CSI, The View Apartments, Applewood Pointe, The Enclave <br />development, Homewood Suites, Beisswenger’s, LA Fitness, Northeast Bank, Lakes <br />Run Apartments, and many others; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS Janice’s work in New Brighton will have positive impacts in the community for years <br />to come. For example being selected as only one of two Ramsey County Cities that <br />are part of Open to Business, the purchase of the New Brighton Elementary site and <br />the selection of the developer team, the acquisition of grant dollars for water efficiency <br />projects, and her role as incident commander during New Brighton’s “water condition <br />yellow” response; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS Janice has been a beloved and respected Assistant Director, regarded as having an <br />incredibly witty and sarcastic sense of humor, a trusting leadership style that <br />effortlessly motivates the people who work for her, and a composed, honest clarity that <br />has empowered and educated the citizens of New Brighton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS Janice’s last day with the City of New Brighton will be on July 13th 2018 where she <br />will embark on her new journey as she accepts the role of Director of Community <br />Development in the City of Inver Grove Heights, which is an incredible achievement <br />and will award her many new opportunities for growth. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, in recognition of Janice’s 12 years of service to the City of New Brighton, members of the <br />Community Assets & Development staff and all other City staff, we present this proclamation and offer our sincerest congratul ations to: <br /> <br />Janice Gundlach <br />And extend our heartfelt thanks, and our fondest wishes for her in her new <br />endeavor. <br /> <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of <br />the City of New Brighton, Minnesota to be affixed this 10th day of July, 2018. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> VALERIE JOHNSON – MAYOR
