REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consider Authorization of Temporary Signage to Promote Annual Health & <br />Fitness Expo <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Jennifer Fink, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br />Recommendation: <br />Consider authorization of temporary signage to promote the 13th Annual Health & Fitness Expo at the <br />New Brighton Community Center. <br />Legislative History: <br />October 24, 2017 Council approved the use of temporary signage for the 2018 Health and Fitness Expo <br />November 9, 2016 Council approved the use of temporary signage for the 2017 Health and Fitness Expo <br />November 24, 2015 Council approved the use of temporary signage for the 2016 Health and Fitness Expo <br />November 12, 2014 Council approved the use of temporary signage for the 2015 Health and Fitness Expo <br />Financial Impact: <br />None <br />Explanation: <br />A health and fitness event will take place at the New Brighton Community Center on Saturday, <br />January 12, 2019 from 9:30 am-1:30 pm to provide the community access to local health and fitness <br />opportunities. The event will include a sampling of group fitness classes, wellness vendors, <br />membership drive, personal training discounts and prize giveaways. The event is being marketed <br />through the use of news releases, direct mail, cable television, social media, the city website and city <br />publications. <br />From Thursday, December 20-Monday, January 14, the temporary signage will be placed along main <br />traffic areas to further promote the Health & Fitness Expo. The sign ordinance in the Zoning Code <br />Policy 9-040, (2)F allows for temporary signs for civic celebrations and events.
