<br /> <br />on the timeline for the task force for the remainder of the year. She anticipated a document <br />would be drafted for the Task Force to review in November. <br /> <br />B. Where are We Going <br /> <br />Fynewever stated the goal of the Task Force was to work towards completing a report for the <br />City Council. She explained it was her goal for the Task Force to wrap up their work in <br />December. It was noted the City Council would have the final say on when the group is <br />dismantled. <br /> <br />C. Sector Reporting <br /> <br />Fynewever requested the members provide the group with information from their sectors. <br /> <br />McQuillan stated he and Nord met with members from the faith community. He noted he <br />met with Father Paul from St. John the Baptist, Jered Carlson from Grace Point and Ron <br />Hanson from the Christian Church of New Brighton. He summarized the conversations he <br />had with these faith leaders and highlighted the positives factors and barriers each saw in the <br />community. He reported public transportation and affordable housing were main concerns. <br /> <br />Nord stated she also met with Fatta Aubdi at the mosque in St. Anthony. She indicated his <br />main concern was the need to feel a part of the community. She reported she also met with <br />Pastor Stout at Faith Christian Reform Church. She noted she also met with a practitioner <br />from the Christian Science Church and toured Beacon Haven, a Christian Science nursing <br />home. She explained she met with a representative from Salem Covenant. Quality of life <br />issues that were mentioned were access to transportation, lack of shopping or small <br />businesses, and the price of housing. <br /> <br />Valdez stated she had planned to meet with a representative from Oak Grove on National <br />Night Out but explained Oak Grove residents were not interested in interacting with police <br />and fire for this event. It was her hope she could plan a positive event for 2019. <br /> <br />Allen reported he met with Jerry Hromatka from NYFS and Mary Sue Hanson with <br />Suburban Ramsey County Family Collaborative. The benefit of ISI meetings was reviewed <br />in further detail with the Task Force. He explained Mary Sue was willing to provide a <br />training session to the Task Force at some point in the future. <br /> <br />Schlangen indicated she was able to meet with two staff members from Irondale, one a dean <br />and the other a principle. She noted housing stability was a concern for Irondale families, <br />along with access to food and public transportation. <br /> <br />Fynewever thanked the members for their reports and encouraged each member to pass along <br />their notes to her as this would assist in creating the final report. <br /> <br />McQuillan commented on a community event he attended and discussed the feedback he <br />received from the public. He stated there was concern with access to food, housing prices, <br />and access to transportation. He encouraged the City to make transportation a priority for <br />New Brighton. <br /> <br />
