<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />September 5, 2018 City Hall <br />Council Chambers 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Fields. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call: <br />Members Present: Commissioners Kevin Fields (Chair), Pam Axberg, Matt Johnson, Zachary <br />Johnson, Abe McEathron, Julia O’Rourke, and Mike Santi. <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Jack Brunell and Nick Quade. <br /> <br />Also Present: Director Jennifer Fink; Tim McQuillan; and Council Member Paul Jacobsen. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br />Motion by Axberg, seconded by Johnson to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 7- <br />0. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />Motion by O’Rourke, seconded by Santi to approve the August 1, 2018 minutes as presented. <br />Motion carried 7-0. <br /> <br />V. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Informational Presentation from the Inclusive Community Task Force – Tim <br />McQuillan, Vice Chair of the Inclusive Community Task Force <br /> <br />Director Fink reported the Commission would be receiving an update from Tim McQuillan <br />who serves on the Inclusive Community Task Force. <br />Tim McQuillan, Vice Chair of the Inclusive Community Task Force, introduced himself to <br />the Commission and explained he has been a resident of New Brighton for just over 30 years. <br />He reported the Mayor had asked him to serve on the Inclusive Community Task Force. He <br />provided a brief overview on the task forces initial directives which were to identify barriers, <br />cultivate connections, pursue partnerships, look at diverse workforce and housing, public <br />space welcome and examine need for Inclusive Commission. He commented transportation <br />was a main concern for New Brighton residents and the ability to get downtown. He <br />reported the group would continue to meet through 2018 and would be drafting a report for <br />the City Council which would be completed by December 18th. <br />
