This is a Gross Misdemeanor offense that carries a <br />maximum sentence of 1 year and/or a $3,000 fine. <br /> <br />Detective Voeller signed a criminal complaint against a 33 year old Andover man for <br />Motor Vehicle Theft. He is charged with a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 5 <br />year and/or a $10,000 fine. This case is stemming from an incident where the victim’s <br />car was taken from a gas station in New Brighton and the vehicle was found 9 days later <br />in Anoka County occupied by another party with the 33 year old Andover man who <br />originally stole the vehicle nearby. The party charged has at least 13 prior felony <br />convictions. <br /> <br />Detective Lochen signed a complaint against a 42 year old Coon Rapids man for <br />Possession of a Controlled Substance. The charge is a felony that carries a maximum <br />sentence of 5 years and/or a $10,000 fine. The charge stems from a traffic arrest where <br />the driver was found to be in possession of .3 grams of crack cocaine. <br /> <br />Detective DeBoer signed a complaint against a 57 year old Brooklyn Park woman for <br />Criminal Vehicular Operation. The charge is a felony with a maximum sentence of 3 <br />years and/or a $10,000 fine. The case stems from the Brooklyn Park woman was <br />operating a motor vehicle when she struck a jogger and fled the scene. The vehicle was <br />followed by a witness and contacted the police. When the police located the driver, she <br />was showing signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests which resulted in her <br />being arrested. A blood test revealed morphine and codeine in her system. The jogger <br />suffered broken bones and tendon damage that required surgery. <br /> <br />V. COMMUNITY POLICING AND CRIME AND FIRE PREVENTION <br />ACTIVITIES <br /> <br />This section contains information on our community policing, fire and crime prevention <br />activities. <br /> <br />Following a recent robbery at this fast food restaurant, Community Engagement Officer <br />Brad Krebsbach was invited by the franchisee to address employees from several of the <br />ownership’s stores in the local area. He addressed the topics of crime prevention and <br />workplace safety. The managers from the New Brighton location spoke positively about <br />their relationship with police, and especially praised the response of Officers Brianna <br />Riedel, Thai Xiong, and Travis Nordhus to the robbery. The restaurant donated $1,000 to <br />the agency’s Santa Cop in appreciation for the ongoing efforts of the department. <br /> <br />Firefighters staffed the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign at the Cub Foods in New <br />Brighton from 10am-8pm on December 9th. This has become a December tradition for <br />Public Safety. <br /> <br /> <br />
