RECOGNITION, NEWS AND INFORMATION <br /> <br />Congratulations to our seven newest firefighter hires who recently passed their <br />Firefighter I certification practical examination! Also, kudos to their instructor, <br />Firefighter Bob Reif, in assuring their preparedness for this achievement. <br /> <br />Allina Health shared the following about Emergency Medical Services (EMS) calls for <br />service in New Brighton during 2017: 2,262 total incidents with an average response time <br />of 8:02 and patient transport in 74.4% of cases (this is 251 more calls than in 2016, or a <br />12.5% annual increase). The top EMS incidents included: inter-facility evaluation (i.e., <br />nursing homes, healthcare clinics, etc.) – 420, sick person (generalized illness) – 225, <br />falls – 215, and mental health – 189. Of the 1,484 of their responses were emergent <br />(lights and sirens) with an average response time of 7:05 to those incidents. <br /> <br />Officer Thai Xiong hosted the 10th anniversary banquet committee for the Minnesota <br />Asian Peace Officer Association (MNAPOA) at the Public Safety Center. Director <br />Paetznick also welcomed and addressed the group as they planned for their event next <br />month. MNAPOA proudly claims New Brighton Officer Xiong as one of its “success <br />stories” as he successfully made the transition from a student member to a sworn law <br />enforcement officer member. <br /> <br /> <br />
