18 <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (EDC) <br /> <br />This commission advises the Council on matters concerning industrial and commercial development for the <br />City. The EDC meets at 7:30a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Beginning April 1, 2018, Economic <br />Development Commission Members include: <br /> Paul Zisla (Chair) <br /> Monica Garcia-Perez <br /> Mike Murlowski <br /> Kevin Peck <br /> Bob Benke <br /> Harry Carter <br /> Rachel Nelson <br /> Clint Kuipers <br /> Rachel Luong <br /> Janice Gundlach (Staff Liaison) <br /> Graeme Allen (Council Liaison) <br /> <br /> <br />PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION <br /> <br />This citizen commission advises the Council on matters related to the goals, policies and operations on public <br />safety functions and human rights issues. It also fulfils the responsibilities and obligations of a Police Civil Ser- <br />vice Commission, pursuant to the terms and provisions of MN Laws 1929 Ch. 299 (MN Statutes, Chapter 419 <br />et seq as amended). Duties include assisting the police and fire divisions in such activities as assessing com- <br />munity concerns relating to public safety issues, developing long range strategic plans and developing and <br />monitoring achievement of performance measures. The Public Safety Commission also performs duties relat- <br />ing to participation in regional human rights organizations and advises the City Council on efforts to create <br />equal opportunity in efforts to eliminate discrimination.
