2
I. INCIDENT RESPONSE INFORMATION

The following information contains summaries of significant police and fire related
incidents during the month.

On April 2, Fire responded to the 1100 block of Silver Lake road on a Bobcat that was on
fire. The fire was able to be extinguished with a fire extinguisher.

On April 4, New Brighton squads arrested a 35-year old New Brighton woman on a
Simple Robbery warrant out of Hennepin County. Shortly after the female was placed
into handcuffs, she claimed she had just ingested a bag of heroin. She was taken to
Regions hospital and Ramsey County sent over a Deputy to stand by with her till she
could be released then booked into the jail.

On Thursday, April 5, around 11 pm, New Brighton officers responded to a townhome in
the 2100 block of 14th Street NW to check for an assault suspect who was wanted for
stabbing a family member in the City of Minneapolis. Officers found the suspect hiding
beneath a bed in an upstairs bedroom. He was taken into custody without incident and
transferred to Minneapolis PD.

On Friday, April 6, at 1:40 pm, officers responded to a business in the 2000 block of
Silver Lake Road on a reported person slumped over in their vehicle that was parked in a
parking lot. When officers arrived they were able to wake the driver but determined he
was likely under the influence of narcotics. The driver failed field sobriety testing and
later admitted to using heroin. During the investigation it was also determined that the
vehicle the male was driving was stolen. A search warrant was completed and signed by a
judge in order to obtain blood from the driver. The male was booked at the Ramsey
County jail for felony 1st Degree DWI and possession of a stolen auto.

On Saturday night, April 7, around 8:30 pm, a victim reported that he was robbed at
gunpoint of $100 cash and his iPhone in the area of Thorndale Avenue and Service Drive.
The two suspects were apparently drug dealers that the victim was trying to purchase
marijuana from. The victim had contacted the suspects via Facebook to arrange the
transaction and willingly was picked up by them from his residence at the 7th Street
apartments in New Brighton. Very limited suspect information was available.

On Monday, April 9, around 2 am, New Brighton officers were advised that a motor
vehicle pursuit initiated by Anoka County had entered the City, with the suspect vehicle
crashing on I-35W at Highway 88. The suspect fled on foot toward southeast New
Brighton. A perimeter was established, with a canine officer from Maplewood PD and
officers from Roseville PD apprehending the suspect on Thom Drive in Arden Hills.

On Monday, April 9, at 2:00 am, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office requested the
assistance of New Brighton officers after the suspect in a vehicle they were pursuing
crashed in the area of 35W and County Road D. New Brighton officers assisted in setting
up a perimeter and a search for the suspect that had fled the scene of the crash, across
35W and toward the area of Cleveland Ave. A Maplewood K9 assisted in the search for
the suspect and located him in the area of Cleveland Ave and Thom Drive in Arden Hills.
