9
Det. DeBoer signed a complaint against an 18 year old female from Minneapolis for 1
count of Carrying/Possessing a Pistol without a Permit. This charge is a Gross
Misdemeanor which carries a maximum sentence of up to a year in jail and/or a $3,000
fine.

Det. DeBoer signed a complaint against a 39 year old Burnsville man for 1 count of
Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 4th degree. The event took place in August of 2017
where the 39 year old Burnsville man was a Lyft driver who sexually assaulted an
impaired female while giving her a ride home. The charge carries maximum sentence of
10 years and/or a $20,000 fine.

Our VCET Officer learned of a package containing 65 pounds of methamphetamine that
had been intercepted on a semi-truck that was destined for a storage facility in South
Saint Paul. The shipping company agreed to continue shipping the package (meth
replaced with sham). Once the semi arrived in Minnesota on Wednesday morning, they
placed a VCET member with the driver. The package was delivered to a male waiting at
the storage facility for its arrival. Upon him taking possession of the package, an arrest
team moved in and took him into custody. The male would not provide any information.

Our VCET Officer we received information that a male was in possession of a stolen
AK-47 in his house as well as possessing other stolen guns and several pounds of
marijuana. Due to this, they decided to wait until he left his residence and have him
stopped on traffic. After about 1.5 hours of surveillance, the male and another male
exited the residence and entered a vehicle. Once the vehicle was a few blocks from the
residence, a marked patrol car attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle refused to stop
and a pursuit was initiated. A stolen handgun was thrown out of the window during the
pursuit. The vehicle then stopped and the driver ran from the vehicle but was
apprehended within 100 feet. The passenger, did not run from the traffic stop. The
search warrant was then executed and a "call-out" method was utilized and one male
came out of the house. A second male was then found hiding in the attic. That male was
in possession of two stolen handguns. During the rest of the search, the AK-47 as well as
a couple other guns, ten pounds of marijuana and two ounces of methamphetamine was
located. In total, four people were booked into jail on the various offenses. A couple
days later, our VCET Officer executed four search warrants at the jail for the DNA of the
suspects.

V. COMMUNITY POLICING AND CRIME AND FIRE PREVENTION
ACTIVITIES

This section contains information on our community policing, fire and crime prevention
activities:

As part of their traditional activities during October, firefighters visited all of the schools
and nursing homes on Tuesday morning, October 2 to conduct fire drills.

On October 3, Community Engagement Officer Brad Krebsbach and Bru House owner,
Lynn Barton, partnered to host New Brighton’s local event.
