<br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />Commissioner Frischman stated another alternative would be to just eliminate the words two or three. <br />The Commission was in agreement. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Frischman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy, to approve staff <br />recommendation amending Condition 4. <br /> <br />Approved 7-0. <br /> <br />VIII. Business Items <br /> <br />(A) Review of Draft Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Planning Director Gundlach reviewed the draft Comprehensive Plan with the Commission. She stated <br />as the Commission is aware, the City has been working with a consultant (HKGI) on preparation of the <br />City’s update to its Comprehensive Plan. This long-range planning document is mandated to be updated <br />every ten years by the Metropolitan Council. For the last year and a half, staff and HKGI have been <br />engaging with the public and preparing updated content. This effort has been termed locally as “New <br />Brighton 2040”. The next step in the process is to release the draft plan for public comment. The draft <br />plan must be available for public comment for six months and submitted to adjacent cities and affected <br />jurisdictions. Staff is requesting the Commission review the draft plan and make a recommendation to <br />the City Council to release the plan for public comment. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br />• The Commission requested a paper copy of the Comprehensive Plan be available at City Hall for <br />the public to review. <br />• Questions were asked regarding the age of rental market data. Staff stated they would look into <br />this further to see if more recent data was available. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Fynewever, seconded by Commissioner McQuillan, to recommend the <br />City Council release the Comprehensive Plan for public comment. <br /> <br />Approved 7-0. <br /> <br />(B) Nominate Chair & Vice Chair for Upcoming Year. <br /> <br />Planning Director Gundlach requested the Commission appoint a Chair and Vice Chair for the upcoming <br />year. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Frischman, seconded by Commissioner Murphy, to appoint Erin <br />Nichols-Matkaiti Chair of the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Approved 7-0. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Nichols-Matkaiti, seconded by Commissioner Frischman, to appoint <br />Nasreen Fynewever Vice Chair of the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Approved 7-0. <br />
