Thanks to her calm demeanor, including <br />caring reassurance to her brother during the phone call, and the determination of 911 staff from <br />both the Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center and Allina Health EMS, first <br />responding police officers and ambulance personnel were eventually directed to the scene and <br />aid was rendered. During the course of the twelve -minute phone conversation, the teamwork <br />displayed between the dispatch staff and the young 911 caller demonstrated a high-level of <br />professionalism and compassionate guidance in utilizing a variety of resources to determine the <br />exact address of the emergency medical incident, assuring a positive outcome for the victim. <br />He commended all for their heroic efforts and presented those involved with a Life Saving <br />Certificate. A round of applause was offered by all in attendance. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Amanda for being in attendance and commended her for her efforts in <br />this emergency situation. She then thanked Maya for being brave and calling 911. She stated <br />she was very proud of Maya for saving her grandfather's life. <br />2. Presentation of Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association Award of Excellence <br />recognizing the City of New Brighton for Excellence in Sponsorship and Partnerships for <br />Lions Park. <br />City Manager Lotter stated Parks and Recreation Director Fink would be presenting this item to the Council. <br />Parks and Recreation Director Fink stated the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association annually <br />recognizes member agencies for outstanding programs, projects, and initiatives through its <br />Awards of Excellence program. This distinguished recognition is for projects completed the <br />previous year that score highly in regards to the Awards of Excellence program criteria. This <br />year, it has selected the City of New Brighton Parks and Recreation Department to receive an <br />Award of Excellence for its work at Lions Park in securing unique and valuable sponsorships <br />and partnerships in the community to fund and build New Brighton's Lions Park. <br />Margo Newmandahl, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Association, commended the City on <br />their efforts at Lions Park. She discussed the goals and objectives for the Minnesota Parks and <br />Recreation Association, noting their awards committee began in 1987. She discussed the <br />makeup of the awards committee and presented the Mayor with an Award of Excellence for <br />Sponsorship and Partnership for Lions Park. <br />Mayor Johnson stated this award meant a lot to the City of New Brighton and to the Lions <br />Club. She commented she was so proud of the park and the partnerships that were created to <br />complete this great community amenity. <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
