111rWav
the city that works for you
Council Worksession
July 10, 2018
5:00 pm
Present: Mayor Valerie Johnson
Councilmember Graeme Allen
Councilmember Mary Burg
Councilmember Paul Jacobsen
Absent: Councilmember Emily Dunsworth
Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter, Jennifer Fink, Craig Schlichting, Sandra Daniloff
Guests in Attendance:
Closed_Session _with _DX_Response Team
The City Council met in Closed Session with the DX Response Team.
Review City Logo Design Options
Lotter stated at the request of City Council at the June 26 Work Session, staff narrowed the logo design contest
to one designer. Staff have been working with her to present to you three to four designs that could be
presented to the community for public input. Staff requests that Council choose and approve three designs, and
then use the community engagement software that the City is procuring to gain feedback from the residents on
things that they like or dislike about each of them. Designs can have a final refinement, and then be presented
to Council for a final approval at a future Council meeting.
Fink reviewed the final logos with the Council in further detail and requested feedback on how to proceed.
Councilmember Jacobsen suggested the gradient option be eliminated from consideration. He stated he liked
the three -color logo versus the two.
Councilmember Allen agreed.
Mayor Johnson supported the gap being removed from the three -color logo, or that the blocks be shifted.
Councilmember Burg stated she liked the logo with the outline of the City, the two-color logo, the three -color
logo, but did not support the gradient logo.
Fink encouraged the Council to not go too in depth with the revisions noting that the public would be presented
with concepts and minor adjustments could be made after the public was surveyed for their input. Lotter
agreed that the survey should serve the Council as guidance and not the final say.
The Council supported three logos moving forward, excluding the gradient option.
Worksession adjourned at 6:29 pm
