{ August 28, 2018 Page 1 of 5 <br />WJBRIGHTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br />' THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday <br />August 28, 2018 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. <br />Present: Mayor Johnson, Councilmembers Allen, Burg, Dunsworth, and Jacobsen <br />Absent: <br />Also Present: Dean Lotter -City Manager, Dave Anderson -Acting City Attorney, Ben Gozola- <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development <br />Call to Order <br />Call to Order <br />Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br />Pledge of Allegiance <br />Pled2e of Alle ance <br />Mayor Johnson led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Public Comment Forum <br />Public Comment <br />Mayor Johnson opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. <br />Forum <br />Perry Martin, 527 17th Avenue NW, expressed concerns regarding the Hanson Park project. <br />He stated the project that was presented has not come to fruition. He discussed the 12 -foot pile <br />of fill that has been placed in Hanson Park, noting this was supposed to be temporary, but has <br />become permanent. He commented on the neighborhood meetings that have been held at his <br />home noting many concerns and questions have been raised by his neighbors. He explained <br />these comments and concerns have been brought to City staff's attention and stated he was told <br />the original contract from 2015 would be followed. He thanked Kyle and Craig for their time <br />in addressing this matter. He indicated he has started a petition and has over 600 signatures at <br />this time. He commented his main concern was that Hanson Park would no longer be a <br />beautiful park when the work was complete. <br />James Senden, 507 17th Avenue NW, stated he has lived in New Brighton for more than 50 <br />years and on Hanson Park for over 46 years. He requested the Council meet and take a tour of <br />the Hanson Park project area. He discussed the ditches within the park and noted flooding was <br />still occurring. He reported the Save Hanson Park Petition now has over 600 signatures with <br />many comments calling for action. He was of the opinion that over 600 residents deserved the <br />attention of the City Council. He commented he would like more information on the final <br />elevations of the ditches and holding ponds, as well as the height of the hill. In addition, he <br />wanted further information regarding the vegetation that would be planted and wondered what <br />purpose the deep ditch would serve behind the homes on 17th Avenue. <br />Approval of Agenda <br />ARProval of Agenda <br />Approval of the <br />Approval of the August 28, 2018 Council Agenda. <br />August 28, 2018 <br />Agenda. <br />Motion by Councilmember Allen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to approve the <br />agenda as submitted. <br />
