September 11, 2018 Page 4 of 5 <br />Bicentennial Pond Storm Sewer Improvement Taxing Districts. <br />City Manager Lotter explained the Public Works Director recommends that $3,750 for Lake Diane <br />and $2,100 for Bicentennial Pond be adopted as the proposed 2019 storm sewer improvement <br />taxing district tax levies. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Mays -Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports& Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter explained the letter sent regarding Hanson Park seems to have addressed <br />the concerns of the public. He discussed the maintenance work being completed at the <br />Community Center. He stated the new City logo rollout continues and reported all street signs <br />will be replaced at a cost of $4,000. He provided the Council with an update on City Clerk <br />Spangrud and noted she was recovering at home after a recent surgery. He indicated <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported he attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for TUV SUD last <br />week. He explained this was a very well attended event and he thanked the Mayor for <br />speaking. He stated the EDC met on September 5th and discussed NBE and the challenges of <br />developing over a dump. He commented on the preliminary plans for the old New Brighton <br />Elementary site. <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported she was not able to attend the Public Safety Commission <br />meeting on Monday, September 10th. She noted VIPS would be hosting a Blood Drive on <br />Wednesday, September 19th from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Center. She <br />noted she was in City Hall 17 years ago when the 9/11 event occurred. <br />_Mary Bura <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Planning Commission will meet next on Tuesday, <br />September 18th. She noted the League of Women Voters will be hosting an informational <br />program on the District of Columbia Statehood on Monday, September 17th at 6:45 p.m. at the <br />New Brighton Community Center. She indicated NYFS would be holding their Taste of <br />Northeast fundraising event on Thursday, October 11th at Vadnais Heights Commons. She <br />encouraged all to attend this wonderful event. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported PREC met on Wednesday, September 5th where the group <br />received an update from the Inclusive Community Task Force. He commented the New <br />Brighton Community Center was shut down last week for maintenance and repairs. He <br />discussed some of the work that was completed and thanked staff for their efforts. He also <br />thanked the public for their patience while the work was being conducted. He concluded his <br />comments by discussing how the events that occurred on 9/11 had changed his life. <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Councilmember Jacobsen for his service to the country and his <br />continued service to the City. She reported she attended the TUV SUD Ribbon Cutting <br />Ceremony and commended TUV SUD for constructing an amazing building in New Brighton. <br />She appreciated all of TUV SUD's efforts to make their state-of-the-art facility a reality.
