<br />• Recent training and testing events were discussed with the Commission. <br />• The Commission thanked Deputy Director Hamdorf for his leadership on the Haz <br />Mat team. <br /> <br />VI. Reports and Updates <br /> <br />A. Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br /> <br />Dave Mattson reviewed the monthly report with the Commission and commented on the calls <br />for service in January. He explained volume in the north metro was down for the first time in <br />10 years in 2018. He commented further on the response time for service and number of <br />patient transports from 2018. He indicated January 2019 had been a busy month. He <br />explained he had several new paramedics starting this this spring, which would be great for <br />Allina. He discussed the staffing changes that had occurred at Allina and noted his new boss <br />was Kevin Miller. He then described how the LUCAS device was benefiting paramedics <br />from Allina. <br /> <br />B. Public Safety Update – Deputy Director Hamdorf <br /> <br />Deputy Director Hamdorf stated Chair Hollimon and Commissioner Conway’s seats were up <br />at this time. He encouraged these Commissioners to reapply. He reported staff was working <br />to find a student Commissioner for this group. He provided the Commission with details on <br />a fatal crash that occurred in New Brighton. He explained the Public Safety Department was <br />hiring at this time and interviews would be held this week. <br /> <br />C. City Council Update – Emily Dunsworth, Councilmember <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth stated the winter newsletter would be coming out next week and <br />would feature an article on the closest unit dispatch system. She explained the Council had a <br />retreat two weeks ago and their efforts were focused on legislative issues for 2019. <br /> <br />VII. Business Items <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />VIII.
