Reports and Updates <br /> <br />A. Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br /> <br />Dave Mattson provided the Commission with an update from Allina. He discussed a rig <br />crash that occurred in the community and noted all involved in the crash were fine. He <br />reported there was a national shortage for paramedics at this time. He described an EMT <br />academy Allina would be sponsoring in order to assist with recruiting new talent. He stated <br />the City of New Brighton had a second life-saving event that would be presented to the City <br />Council on Tuesday, April 9th. He then reviewed the calls for service data with the <br />Commission and highlighted the calls for Innsbruck and Benedictine. He discussed how the <br />snowy weather in February impacted response times. <br /> <br />B. Public Safety Update – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick provided the Commission with an update from the Public Safety <br />Department. He explained the department recently received the urban area security initiative <br />grant funded trailer. He discussed the options that were available on the trailer and noted it <br />had been parked at LA Fitness for the past week. He reported Officer Sonterre will be sworn <br />in at the Council meeting on April 9th and life saving awards would be presented to first <br />responders and EMT’s for saving Noor Siddiqui. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> The Commission suggested signs be posted where new traffic measures have been <br />installed in the City. <br /> <br />C. City Council Update – Paul Jacobsen, Councilmember <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen welcomed the new Commissioners and thanked them for their <br />service to the community. He discussed the streets that would be reconstructed in 2019. He <br />explained the Park and Recreation Department was working on a Parks Strategic Plan. He <br />encouraged the Commissioners to provide feedback for the City’s park on the City’s website. <br /> <br />VII. Business Items <br /> <br />A. Benedictine Health Center Neighborhood Traffic Concerns <br /> <br />Director Paetznick discussed traffic concerns surrounding the Benedictine Health Center that <br />were brought to the City’s attention at a public hearing at a recent Planning Commission meeting <br />from the neighborhood.
