<br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> The Commission suggested an internal survey be conducted to see what the pros and <br />cons were of the new BWC’s. <br /> It was noted the department has received positive feedback from its officers to date <br />regarding the BWC’s. <br /> Data retention rates were reviewed with the Commission. <br /> It was noted an audit would be completed on the BWC’s every two years. <br /> <br />B. PulsePoint <br /> <br />Director Paetznick updated the Commission on an app called PulsePoint and showed a video <br />that described the benefits of having this app available to New Brighton residents. The <br />Commission was encouraged to inform the public of the benefits of this app. <br /> <br />VI. Reports and Updates <br /> <br />A. Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br /> <br />Dave Mattson provided the Commission with an update on calls for service for April and <br />reviewed the response times. He noted Allina responded to 29 overdose calls in 2018 and <br />Narcan was dispensed 19 times. He discussed how Narcan was saving lives in overdose <br />situations. He updated the Commission on the recent active shooter training his paramedics <br />attended in New Brighton. He reported Allina has purchased a quad cab 4-wheeler what will <br />hold a stretcher. He noted the 4-wheeler can be used both in the summer and winter and will <br />be used at special events. <br /> <br />B. Public Safety Update – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick discussed the active hiring process the department was undergoing at this <br />time and stated he was encouraged by the number of applicants the City had received. He <br />reported this week was National Police Week and noted Mounds View would be hosting a <br />memorial event. He commented on the Know the Truth Community Forum event that would <br />be held at Irondale High School on Thursday, May 16th at 6:30 p.m. He stated the City-wide <br />Clean Up Day would be held on Saturday, May 18th and document shredding would occur at <br />the Public Safety Department. He provided a brief update on the MnDOT MNPASS project <br />and commented on how traffic in New Brighton was being impacted. <br /> <br />C. City Council Update – Paul Jacobsen, Councilmember <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked all who attended the New Brighton Open House on <br />Saturday, May 11th. He discussed the recent events that occurred at the April 23rd Council <br />meeting noting a life-saving award was presented and the Oath of Office was taken by new <br />Public Safety Officers. He thanked Director Paetznick for his strong leadership in the <br />community. He reported Scott Boller, the City’s Public Works Superintendent, recently <br />retired. He stated the Council would be holding a Public Hearing on the T21 Tobacco <br />Ordinance on Tuesday, May 14th. He explained the Midtown Village (New Brighton <br />Elementary School Redevelopment Project) Public Hearing would be held at the Planning <br />Commission meeting on Tuesday, May 21st. <br />
