<br /> <br />that focused on the effectiveness of roadway warning signs. He described the process the <br />City follows in order to install roadway signs. It was noted all stop signs are approved via <br />Ordinance. He discussed how State Statute had recently changed regarding speed limits and <br />commented on the City’s common practices to address traffic speed, street lights and traffic <br />calming. Staff reviewed the process with which comments or concerns can be brought to the <br />City. <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> It was noted the City removes snow on all sidewalks in the City except for the <br />sidewalks within Long Lake Regional Park. <br /> A map of City hot spots was discussed with the Commission. <br /> Staff determined that the MnDOT temporary lights were helping to move traffic <br />through the community. <br /> The Commission thanked staff for providing the Commission with this information <br />and recommended the staff presentation be posted on the City’s website. <br /> <br />VI. Reports and Updates <br /> <br />A. Allina Health – Dave Matteson <br /> <br />Dave Mattson reviewed the number of 911 requests for 2019. He explained Allina was <br />responding to approximately 5.38 calls per day, which was standard compared to years past. <br />It was noted the top three calls for service were for falls, general illness and breathing <br />problems. He reported response times were improving and the rationale behind this was due <br />to better deployment of trucks given the traffic/road construction situation. He discussed <br />how adolescent with mental health issues were being addressed by the community. He <br />commented on the active shooter training that was taking place at the Fridley High School <br />and described how this was helping multiple agencies come together to prepare for this type <br />of event. <br /> <br />B. Public Safety Update – Director Paetznick <br /> <br />Director Paetznick provided the Commission with an update from the Public Safety <br />Department. He reviewed the information that was pushed out to neighbors during National <br />Night Out regarding the Hands Free Bill and the upcoming census. He noted the City <br />received a great group of candidates for its most recent hiring cycle. He stated this Friday the <br />Public Safety Department would be hosting Story Time at the Fire Station. He ex plained a <br />one day safety camp would be hosted on Friday, August 16th at Hansen Park from 9:00 a.m. <br />to 12:00 p.m. He reported the Public Safety Department made their first mental health <br />referral to the NYFS Community Case Manager. He reported it was great to see juvenile <br />arrests were down this year. He stated July was a really busy month for fire calls. Further <br />discussion ensued regarding the departments use of force numbers for the past several <br />months. He explained his officers were pleased with the fact the department now had body <br />cameras. <br /> <br />C. City Council Update – Paul Jacobsen, Councilmember <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen explained the Council passed a T21 Ordinance. He stated <br />demolition would begin at the Midtown Village over the next week. He reported Pulte
