<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> The type of vandalism that was occurring within the City parks was described with <br />the Commission. <br /> The cost/benefit ratio for having portable units in the parks was discussed, along <br />with the potential of pursuing remote locking technology for the restrooms. <br /> The potential of hiring a contract company to clean the bathrooms was discussed, <br />along with finding volunteers. <br /> The Commission appreciated the fact that staff was evaluating how to better <br />operate and maintain these facilities. <br /> The Commission supported having bathroom facilities available to the public within <br />all City parks in order to encourage park use for all in the community. <br /> The Commission suggested eliminating the weekend split shift and instead have staff <br />from the Community Center visit, open and clean the restrooms. <br /> The Commission encouraged staff to review the numbers with respect to the options <br />that have been discussed and report back to the Commission at a future meeting. <br /> <br />B. Update from Community Assets and Development on 2019 Projects – Craig Schlichting, <br />Director of Community Assets and Development <br /> <br />Director Schlichting provided the Commission with an update on the following projects <br />scheduled for 2019: <br /> <br /> 2019 Street Rehabilitation <br /> Stormwater Re-use at Lions Park <br /> Atonement/Rice Creek Road Sidewalk <br /> Water Treatment Plant 1 Plantings <br /> Hansen Park Final Lift of Asphalt <br /> New Brighton Elementary/Benedictine/School Projects <br /> Organics Recycling <br /> Solar <br /> Jones Lake Purchase <br /> Silver Lake Road <br /> MN Pass <br /> Mural at the Community Center <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> The improvements being made at Hansen Park to address rain concerns was <br />reviewed with the Commission. <br /> The potential location for organics recycling was discussed. <br /> The improvements that would occur at Irondale High School and Bel Air Elementary <br />was detailed with the Commission. <br /> The I-35W North MnPASS project was discussed, along with the impacts this project <br />would have on the community.
