Annual Commissioner Training – Terri Spangrud, City Clerk <br /> <br />City Clerk Spangrud stated on a yearly basis, staff strives to hold training sessions with each <br />of the City’s Commissions. This training is especially important for new commissioners, but <br />also acts as a great refresher for returning members. She provided each commissioner with <br />the City’s latest “Commissioner Handbook,” and covered the following topics during a <br />presentation: <br /> <br />a) Roles and Responsibilities <br />b) Council Expectations <br />c) Gift Law <br />d) Data Laws <br />e) Open Meeting Law <br />f) Communication <br />g) IT Use Policy <br /> <br />Discussion included: <br /> When to direct the public to City staff for assistance and further information. <br /> The Commission thanked the City Clerk for her thorough presentation. <br /> <br />C. Selection of Commission Chair and Vice Chair <br /> <br />Director Fink requested the Commission select a Chair and Vice Chair for 2019. <br /> <br />Motion by Fields, seconded by Johnson to select Pam Axberg as Chair of the PREC for 2019. <br />Motion carried 9-0. <br /> <br />Motion by Axberg, seconded by Fields to select Matt Johnson as Vice Chair of the PREC for <br />2019. Motion carried 9-0. <br /> <br />VI. Announcements <br /> <br />A. City Council Report – Council Member Mary Burg <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg thanked the Commissioners for their service to the community. She <br />explained she would be serving as the PREC Council Liaison in 2019. She noted she worked <br />for Park and Rec for 27 years and had a real heart for the City’s parks. She reported the <br />Town Hall meeting would be held on Saturday, May 4 th at the Community Center. <br /> <br />B. PREC Chair Updates – Kevin Fields <br /> <br />Chair Fields stated he had nothing to report. <br /> <br />C. Department Happenings and Upcoming Events – City Staff <br />
