HEAD'S APPROVAL: <br /> <br />MANAGER'S REVIEW/RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />No comments to supplement this report <br /> <br />Comments attached <br /> <br />Explanation: <br />Background: A new State law established in 2005 requires communities to establish a formal policy <br />relating to Elected Official Travel by January 1,2006. The Council considered and approved a travel <br />policy at your December 13,2005. However, in an effort to remain sensitive to budget concerns, yet <br />provide a little more flexibility to the Council in considering travel needs, The policy is back on the <br />agenda to consider a minor modification. <br /> <br />The modified policy provides for the following. <br />. The Council will approve out of state travel in advance of the event. <br />. The Mayor will be allowed to attend up to two national conferences per year. <br />. The City Council will be allowed to attend up to one national conference per year, subject to <br />budget availability; <br />. The City shall pay for appropriate travel, lodging, and per diem expenses. The Mayor/City <br />Council member will be personally responsible for personal expenses, including expenses for <br />costs incurred relating to spouses/family members traveling with the Mayor/City Council <br />member as well as non/city businesses related expenses. <br />.
