She expressed concern with <br />Silver Lake Road, Innsbruck Trail and Palmer Drive. She commented on the number of cars that were <br />running the lights on Silver Lake Road. She stated she feared for the safety of children at this intersection and <br />encouraged the City to address this concern prior to a tragedy occurring. <br />Mayor Johnson asked for additional comments, there were none. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Allen to close the <br />Public Hearing. <br /> <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 7:14 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked Finance Director Davitt for her work on the budget, tax levy <br />and CIP. He commended the City on its financial efforts over the past decade. <br />Councilmember Burg discussed the importance of the Council setting a healthy budget. She <br />stated she respected the sound financial decisions the City Council was making and was proud <br />of the fact the City had an AA bond rating. City Manager Lotter commented on how the City’s <br />tax base was growing and how this impacted taxpayer’s in a positive manner. He discussed <br />how the NBE and Old New Brighton Elementary School redevelopments assisted in growing <br />the tax base through increased property value. <br />Councilmember Burg stated she was proud of the City for the wonderful parks and recreation, <br />police and fire services that were provided to residents, in addition to providing clean and safe <br />drinking water. <br />Councilmember Allen thanked Finance Director Davitt for her thorough presentation. He <br />reported the City was doing very well financially and was making sound decisions to keep the <br />City moving in a positive direction. He commented on the ways the City was working to save <br />on energy and operating costs. He noted the City would also be saving money on elections by <br />moving to even years. He described the new revenue stream the City had created through the <br />electronic billboard that was installed at the Community Center. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth stated she appreciated the fact that staff was very thoughtful and <br />responsible with the budget. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Councilmember Dunsworth and Councilmember Allen for their <br />support on the 2019 budget. <br /> <br />Council Business <br />1. Consider Resolution Adopting the Final 2019 Tax Levy. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Allen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to adopt a Resolution adopting <br />the Final 2019 Property Tax Levy of $9,513,110. <br /> <br />City Manager Lotter indicated Finance Director Davitt would be presenting this item to the Council. <br />Finance Director Davitt requested the Council adopt a Resolution approving the 2019 tax levy. <br /> <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />2.
