<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consider a Resolution Accepting the 2018 Scholarship Donations from Dairy <br />Queen, Old Highway 8 <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Jennifer Fink, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Waive the reading and adopt the resolution accepting monetary scholarship donations from Dairy <br />Queen, 409 Old Highway 8 NW, New Brighton, MN in the amount of $269.24 and also other tangible <br />donations benefitting program participants in the New Brighton Parks & Recreation Department. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br />None <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />The scholarship donations are important to New Brighton youth and families who may not be able to <br />register for Parks and Recreation programs without this financial assistance. <br /> <br />Tangible donations have benefitted the New Brighton Parks and Recreation programs. These donations <br />are as follows: <br /> 500 free blizzards/coffee cooler coupons for Aquatics/Programs/Staff Training. <br /> 1000 Coaches/Manager/Instructors VIP 5 free med. Blizzard punch cards with free water bottle <br />refills of PowerAde or water. <br /> 1000 Sports Participant VIP 5 blizzards at 50% off punch card with free water bottle refills of <br />PowerAde or water. <br />Explanation: <br />Scholarship donations help low income families in New Brighton under the City Parks and Recreation <br />Department scholarship program. Families pay 50% of the registration fee when they qualify for the <br />scholarship program.
