Consider Resolution Approving a Special Use Permit Amendment and Variances for <br />Mounds View Public Schools proposed Improvements to Irondale High School located at <br />2425 Long Lake Road. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to adopt a Resolution <br />authorizing a Special Use Permit and Variances for Irondale High School located at 2425 Long Lake <br />Road with conditions. <br /> <br />City Manager Lotter indicated Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola would be <br />presenting this item to the Council. <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola stated Mounds View Public Schools is <br />seeking to make improvements to Irondale High School by adding a new auditorium, six new classrooms, <br />and a revised main-office/secure entrance. Interior renovations include improvements to hallways and <br />intersections, conversion of the existing pool into a new fitness room, a renovated lobby area, and creation of a <br />new multi-purpose room out of the existing auditorium. The exterior of the building will be improved with <br />brick and precast panels matching the existing building along with new metal panels and accent lighting, and <br />additional parking will be added in a new lot to the NE of the school. The special use permit would authorize <br />the package of proposed improvements, and the variances would address proposed nonconformities relating <br />to parking. Staff summarized the comments he received from the public.
