<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Council Worksession <br />February 5, 2019 <br />5:00 pm <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Valerie Johnson <br /> Councilmember Graeme Allen <br /> Councilmember Mary Burg <br /> Councilmember Emily Dunsworth <br /> Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter, Devin Massopust, Tony Paetznick <br /> <br />Guests in Attendance: Joe Kelly <br /> <br /> <br />Legislative Priorities Document (Informational Only) <br /> <br />Lotter provided the Council with a handout on the City’s legislative priorities for 2019. <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg thanked staff for pulling this information together in such a professional manner. Lotter <br />stated Sandra and Devin worked together on this document. He commented further on how this document <br />would assist staff and the Council in addressing legislative initiatives for the coming year. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson discussed several minor grammatical changes she had discussed with staff. She explained <br />funding for Long Lake would remain a priority for her and questioned if buckthorn should be considered a <br />priority. Lotter stated the lake has been the main concern at this time. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dunsworth recommended the St. Anthony School District be made a priority for the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen requested it be made known the City Council was against preemption and that New <br />Brighton wanted to manage things at the City level. <br /> <br />Councilmember Allen thanked staff for providing the Council with a comprehensive, professional document <br />on the City’s legislative priorities. Lotter thanked staff for the feedback and noted he would make revisions <br />and bring this document back to the City Council. He described how this document would assist staff in <br />approaching State and Federal delegates in a concise manner. <br /> <br />Lotter provided the Council with an update on MNLARS. <br /> <br />Paetznick provided the Council with an update on the activity of the Public Safety and Fire Department. <br /> <br /> <br />
