<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consideration of Approval to Fund the Annual Performance Pay Program and <br />Adopt Resolution Amending the 2019 Budget <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Brenda Davitt <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendation: To approve funding for the City of New Brighton’s Annual Performance Pay <br />Program and adopt a resolution amending the 2019 Budget. <br /> <br /> <br />Legislative History: The Annual Performance Pay Program is included within the City of New <br />Brighton Employee Policy Handbook. The Employee Policy Handbook was last modified on January <br />23, 2018 and became effective January 25, 2018. <br /> <br /> <br />Financial Impact: $127,700 is requested for the Annual Performance Pay Program in 2019. The <br />funding for the program will be derived from fund balance created through budget savings realized in <br />2018. <br /> <br />Explanation: The Annual Performance Pay Program is a program that was established for the <br />purpose of recognizing the significant accomplishments and efforts of full-time employees who are <br />considered exempt under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (unless bargaining unit contracts <br />specify otherwise). As noted in the City of New Brighton Employee Policy Handbook, the program is <br />“intended to recognize, encourage, and promote team efforts in the accomplishment of departmental <br />work plans, acknowledge an employee’s effort towards fulfilling and supporting our organization and <br />responsibilities as employees serving New Brighton, its residents, and businesses, and for significant <br />accomplishments that the employee has been responsible for during the course of the year”. <br /> <br /> <br />The program requires approval for funding by the Council on an annual basis. The requested <br />funding for this program would be used to recognize employee contributions during the 2018 <br />calendar year.
