<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT HEARING FOR PROJECT 19‐1, 2019 STREET <br />REHABILITATION <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting, Director of Community Assets and Development <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />1. To hold a Public Improvement Hearing on proposed Project 19‐1, 2019 Street Rehabilitation. <br />2. To adopt the resolution ordering Project 19‐1, 2019 Street Rehabilitation as proposed in the <br />Feasibility Study, authorize staff to proceed with the preparation of plans and specifications, and <br />designate the Director of Community Assets and Development as the engineer for this <br />improvement project. <br />Legislative History: The City Council adopted a Comprehensive Street Plan in 1980 and recently <br />updated the plan as part of the New Brighton 2040 Comprehensive Plan process creating a means by <br />which to improve and maintain high quality streets and alleys within the City. The streets considered <br />for rehabilitation in 2019 have been identified by City staff as needing replacement in 2019 based on <br />their age, pavement condition, and resident input. <br /> <br />On January 22, 2019, Council adopted a resolution ordering staff to prepare a Feasibility Study for City <br />Project 19‐1, 2019 Street Rehabilitation. <br /> <br />On January 31, 2019, an informational meeting was held with residents to be affected by this proposed <br />project. Information about this meeting is included in the Feasibility Study. <br /> <br />On February 26, 2019, Council accepted the Feasibility Study for Project 19‐1, 2019 Street Rehabilitation <br />and set the Public Improvement Hearing for March 26, 2019. <br /> <br />On March 6, 2019, staff met with the Parks, Recreation, and Environmental Committee. No changes <br />were suggested for the property corridor. <br /> <br />Notices of the Public Improvement Hearing were mailed to property owners to be affected by this <br />proposed street rehabilitation project and published in the local newspaper as required by law. <br /> <br />Report Number: <br />Agenda Section: Public Hearing <br />Report Date: 3/21/2019 <br />Council Meeting Date: 3/26/2019
