April 23, 2019 Page 8 of 9 <br />worn cameras for the Public Safety Department were now up and running. He invited the <br />public to attend the City’s Open House on Saturday, May 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. He <br />noted the focus of this event would be the Parks Strategic Plan and the New Brighton <br />Elementary redevelopment project. He indicated the I-35W MnPASS project would also be <br />addressed at the Open House meeting. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported PREC would meet next on Wednesday, May 1st at 6:30 p.m. <br />He encouraged the public to attend the City’s Open House on Saturday, May 4th in order to <br />provide feedback on the Park Strategic Plan. She stated she would be attending the NYFS <br />Leadership Luncheon on Wednesday, May 1st at 11:30 a.m. at Midland Hills. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Public Safety Commission would be meeting next on <br />Monday, May 13th at 6:30 p.m. He reviewed the Chair and Vice Chair recommendations for <br />the Commission. He stated it was a pleasure and honor to hold Commission interviews at the <br />worksession meeting prior to the Council meeting. He thanked both candidates for coming <br />before the Council. He explained he would miss Scott Boller and his candor. He stated he was <br />very pleased the City honored St. John’s Church as this was a pillar in the community. He <br />reported the Public Safety Department would be hosting an event for National Drug Take Back <br />Day on Saturday, April 27th. He noted a drop box was available 24/7 at the Public Safety <br />Department lobby. <br /> <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported the Planning Commission met on Tuesday, April 16th and <br />welcomed Jeremy Melquist. She reviewed the Chair and Vice Chair recommendations for the <br />Commission. She explained the Planning Commission would meet next on Tuesday, May 21st <br />at 7:00 p.m. where a public hearing for the New Brighton Elementary redevelopment project <br />would be held. She provided the Council with a summary of the discussion that was held by <br />the Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee which met on Tuesday, <br />April 16th. She stated this group was very interested in hearing from the public regarding City <br />parks and encouraged residents to visit Pinpoint on the City’s website to participate. <br /> <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported the EDC met on April 3rd. He reviewed the Chair and Vice <br />Chair recommendations for this group. He encouraged the public to attend the public hearing <br />for the New Brighton Elementary redevelopment project on Tuesday, May 21st. He discussed <br />the appreciation event that would be held this weekend for the New Brighton Public Safety <br />Department. He noted a Volunteer Appreciation Event would be held on Sunday, April 28th. <br />He stated he would be attending a CPY meeting on Thursday, April 25th. He indicated the <br />New Brighton Spring Clean Up Day would be held on Saturday, May 18th at the Public Works <br />Facility from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson thanked New Brighton residents for being patient during the I-35W MnPASS <br />project. She stated Earth Day was this week. She encouraged residents to assist in cleaning up <br />and beautifying the City.
