June 25, 2019 Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a regular meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday <br />June 25, 2019 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Johnson, Councilmembers Allen, Burg, and Jacobsen <br />Absent: Councilmember Dunsworth <br /> <br />Also Present: Dean Lotter-City Manager, Sarah Sonsalla-City Attorney, Brenda Davitt-Finance <br />Director, Craig Schlichting-Community Assets & Development Director, Devin <br />Massopust-Assistant City Manager <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br /> <br />Pledge of Allegiance <br />Mayor Johnson led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Public Comment Forum <br />Mayor Johnson opened the Public Forum for comments from the public. <br /> <br />Steven Glen, 2158 Lake Brook Drive, discussed two problems that have arisen in his <br />neighborhood. He stated the property at 2182 Lake Brook Drive has been rented out as an Air <br />BNB. He noted this use was clogging the streets with cars and noted vehicles were parking on <br />the grass. He indicated this home had 38 cars one night. He requested the City investigate this <br />property further. He stated he also had concerns about the property at 2181 Lake Brook Drive <br />as it was becoming a junk house. He explained he has contacted the City on numerous <br />occasions complaining about the number of inoperable vehicles on this property. He requested <br />the City investigate this property further. <br />Tony Doroff, 518 9th Avenue NW, discussed the Midtown Village project with the Council. <br />He questioned why the entire City did not receive notification on this project given the fact TIF <br />was being used for to fund this project. In addition, he believed this project did not make the <br />community more walkable. <br />Paul Kampa, 1150 6th Street NW, stated he has lived in his home for the past 50 years. He <br />requested the City consider some traffic changes on 6th Street NW. He commented on a T- <br />bone accident that occurred two weeks ago along this roadway. He stated he would like to see <br />the speed along 6th Street NW lowered and that additional stop signs be installed. <br />Mr. Kampa expressed concern with the fact that one of the Councilmembers was in arrears <br />with the City for a water bill.
