Consider a Resolution approving a Special Use Permit to allow Big Blue Box to <br />conduct outdoor storage and truck-trailer repair at 401 1st Street SW. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Dunsworth to adopt a Resolution <br />authorizing a Special Use Permit for Big Blue Box at 401 1st Street SW based on the Findings of Fact <br />and recommended conditions for approval. <br /> <br />City Manager Lotter indicated Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola would be <br />presenting this item to the Council. <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gonzola stated Big Blue Box is looking to <br />repurpose the existing buildings and open parking areas at 401 1st Street SW into an expansion of their <br />business currently located on an adjacent parcel at 565 1st Street SW. Big Blue Box is a storage container & <br />cargo container business that rents, sells and stores new and used portable storage containers. He provided <br />further comment on the request from Big Blue Box and reported the Planning Commission recommended <br />approval of the Special Use Permit. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated he supported the request and indicated he was pleased this business was <br />expanding in the City of New Brighton. <br />Mayor Johnson asked when Big Blue Box would be taking over ownership of the property. Assistant <br />Director of Community Assets and Development Gonzola stated it was his understanding Big Blue Box had <br />a purchase agreement in place. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth stated she was very impressed by how the applicant worked together to address <br />the concerns of the Wolkerstorfer’s. <br /> <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />8.
