REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION ITEM DESCRIPTION: Ord 867: Consider Ordinance 867 which updates language on zoning enforcement and enforcement activities relating to the City’s most common complaints and issues DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ 15.99 Deadline: none Recommendations: Approve Ordinance 867 with City Council recommended changes Legislative History: Early 2019: City Council directs staff to research and report back on the City’s most common complaints to begin a discussion on code enforcement challenges. March 26, 2019: Staff presents initial findings to Council, and is directed to conduct additional research and formulate suggestions on ways code could be improved. June 25, 2019: Staff returns to Council with examples of the City’s most common complaints, and presents options for change to Council for consideration. Council directs staff to prepare the various updates now up for consideration. August 20, 2019: Planning Commission held a public hearing on proposed changes, and finalized a recommendation for Council consideration. September 10, 2019: Council considers recommendations of the Planning Commission and staff, and directs staff to make a number of updates to the ordinance in preparation of a final approval. Staff is authorized at that time to place the revised ordinance on a future consent agenda for final review & consideration. Financial Impact: None Summary: Ordinance 867 will update City Code provisions relating to the City’s most common complaints and enforcement issues. All requested updates to the ordinance are incorporated in this final draft.
