REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: Consider a Resolution of summary publication for Ordinance 867 <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br />15.99 Deadline: none <br />Recommendations: Approval of the summary publication resolution as presented <br />Legislative History: Early 2019: City Council directs staff to research and report back on the <br />City’s most common complaints to begin a discussion on code <br />enforcement challenges. <br />March 26, 2019: Staff presents initial findings to Council, and is directed <br />to conduct additional research and formulate suggestions on ways code <br />could be improved. <br />June 25, 2019: Staff returns to Council with examples of the City’s most <br />common complaints, and presents options for change to Council for <br />consideration. Council directs staff to prepare the various updates now <br />up for consideration. <br />August 20, 2019: Planning Commission held a public hearing on proposed <br />changes, and finalized a recommendation for Council consideration. <br />September 10, 2019: Council considers recommendations of the Planning <br />Commission and staff, and directs staff to make a number of updates to <br />the ordinance in preparation of a final approval. Staff is authorized at that <br />time to place the revised ordinance on a future consent agenda for final <br />review & consideration. <br />Financial Impact: None <br />Summary: The summary publication resolution will allow staff to publish a summary of <br />Ordinance 867 rather than the entire ordinance to significantly reduce the <br />cost of putting this ordinance into effect.
