September 10, 2019 Page 6 of 7 <br />Council was in agreement. <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola indicated the Planning Commission <br />recommended the Council consider a more active enforcement of on street parking regulations. <br />Mayor Johnson suggested the Council discuss this matter further at a future worksession meeting. The <br />Council was in agreement. <br />Mayor Johnson asked what would the best way for the Council to proceed with the Ordinance. City Attorney <br />Sonsalla recommended the Council withdraw the motion and instead make a motion directing staff to make <br />changes to the Ordinance per the Council’s discussion and that the Ordinance be brought back for approval. <br />Councilmember Allen withdrew his motion and Councilmember Burg withdrew her second. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Allen, seconded by Councilmember Jacobsen to direct staff to amend the <br />ordinance updating language on zoning enforcement and enforcement activities per Council <br />discussion and that the Ordinance be brought back to the Council for approval at a future meeting. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported the City was migrating to a new website. He explained the new <br />website would be much more user friendly and would be live and fully functioning in October. <br />He stated staff was preparing the space at the Community Center which would be used for <br />elections for Ramsey County. He indicated the DX Response team would be meeting on <br />Wednesday, September 25th. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg thanked the New Brighton Park and Recreation staff for all of the work <br />they completed last week during the annual shut down. She reported PREC would meet next <br />on Wednesday, October 2nd at 6:30 p.m. She discussed the celebration that occurred over the <br />weekend at the State Capital where women’s suffrage was celebrated. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Public Safety Commission met on Monday, September <br />9th where the main order of business was Mr. Kampa’s petition to have stop signs installed on <br />6th Street. He explained Allina representative Dave Mattson discussed the increase in <br />overdoses in the community and that this was being watched. He stated the Red Cross would <br />be holding a Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 11th from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the <br />New Brighton Community Center. He encouraged residents to drive safely as children were <br />now back at school. <br /> <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported the EDC did not meet in September. He explained this group <br />would meet next on Wednesday, October 2nd at 7:30 a.m. He stated New Brighton’s clean up <br />day would be held on Saturday, September 21st at the Public Works Building. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson discussed the high level of road construction that was occurring in and around <br />the community. She encouraged drivers to be patient around Irondale High School. She <br />thanked the Public Safety Department for working to keep students safe around the school. <br />She reported the Stockyard Days Committee was now taking applications for new committee <br />members. She stated Hanson Park would be rededicated on Tuesday, September 24th at 5:00 <br />p.m. She indicated the school board would be requesting an operating referendum.
