<br />I I <br />II <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO, 06-018 <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING INCENTIVES AND PENALTY AMOUNTS FOR THE <br />INFILTRATION/INFLOW PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, On January 24, 2006, the New Brighton City Council approved a five <br />year infiltration/inflow project to start in 2006, that includes an inspection program for <br />sump pumps and drains that are illegally connected to the sanitary sewer system I <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 24-7, Prohibited Discharges, of the New Brighton City Code <br />of Ordinances provides for the inspection of private property for sump pumps and <br />drains that are illegally connected to the sanitary sewer system and for incentives and <br />penalties, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of New <br />Brighton hereby establishes the following incentives and penalties for the sump <br />pumps and drains that are illegally connected to the sanitary sewer system: <br /> <br />1. Incentives - The City will reimburse property owners up to $500 of the cost to <br />properly disconnect sump pumps and drains that are illegally connected into <br />the sanitary sewer system, If a property owner chooses to do the work <br />himselves the City will pay for the materials and a flat amount of $100 for <br />labor, up to the total amount of $500, The property owner may use a licensed <br />plumber to fulfill this obligation, The property owner may be reimbursed <br />$25,00 of the eligible costs of hiring a licensed plumber for the purpose of <br />verifying that any illegal connections have been resolved, <br />2, Penalties - The City will impose a $100 per quarter penalty fee on the <br />sanitary sewer utility bill of property owners who refuse to allow their homes to <br />be inspected for illegal connections to the sanitary sewer system or refuse to <br />disconnect an illegal connection after being so ordered by the City of New <br />Brighton, <br /> <br />Adopted this 24th day of January, 2006. <br /> <br />~~~ <br /> <br />Steve Larson, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~10-- <br /> <br />Matthew S, Fulton, City Manager <br /> <br />"" <br /> <br />a1'< ," >k <br />-" ~'/ / / ' <br />/1, '!i1'~t'd. 4-, ' f:.1(/'/t~/ <br />Dan Maiers, Director of Support Services/City Clerk <br /> <br />(Seal) <br />
