October 8, 2019 Page 3 of 3 <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Park and Recreation Department has two staff members out <br />on maternity leave at this time. She noted Cleve McCoy would be leaving the City after being <br />recruited for a position with the Osseo School District. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Public Safety Commission would be meeting next on <br />Monday, October 14th at 6:30 p.m. He encouraged the public to consider attending the NYFS <br />Taste of Northeast fundraiser which would be held on Thursday, October 3rd. He stated the <br />Lions would be holding a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser at the Eagles on Saturday, October 19th <br />from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. He noted CPY would be holding their annual fundraiser on <br />Friday, November 1st at the New Brighton Community Center. He explained this week was <br />Fire Prevention Week and encouraged all residents to plan and practice a fire escape plan. <br /> <br />Emily Dunsworth <br />Councilmember Dunsworth reported the Planning Commission would meet next on Tuesday, <br />October 15th at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Graeme Allen <br />Councilmember Allen reported the EDC met on Wednesday, October 2nd and discussed <br />Business Retention and Expansion, the City’s sign ordinance, and received an update on Open <br />to Business. He stated the Ramsey County League of Local Government would be meeting <br />next on Thursday, October 24th at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported she met with County Commissioner Mary Jo McGuire along with <br />City Manager Lotter where City traffic issues were discussed. She noted the County would be <br />providing the City with an update at a future meeting. She explained she attended St. John’s <br />Fest last weekend. She commented the City was working to become a whistle free zone. She <br />thanked all who were involved in planning the summer farmers market and encouraged <br />residents to consider attending a winter farmer’s market event. She reported the first event <br />would be held on Wednesday, November 13th at the Community Center. She stated the New <br />Brighton Historical Society would be holding an event on Sunday, October 6th to celebrate <br />New Brighton residents that were 80 years of age or older. She commented the New Brighton <br />Bulletin has closed and she believed this was a sad event. She encouraged residents to visit the <br />City’s new webpage to keep updated on local news.
