<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: CONSIDER CHANGE ORDER 3 CITY PROJECT 18‐12, CITY HALL ROOF, HVAC, AND <br />SKYLIGHT REPLACEMENT <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD’S APPROVAL: Craig Schlichting, Director of Community Assets and Development <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report ___ Comments attached ___ <br />Recommendation: To approve Change Order 3 for City Project 18‐12, City Hall Roo f, HVAC, and Skylight <br />Replacement. <br />Legislative History: This work was identified in the 2015 Roof Management Report and has been <br />included in the City Hall Non‐Fleet Replacement Program. <br />January 22, 2019 Council accepted the amended Proposal for Engineering Services, approved plans and <br />specifications, and authorized advertisement for bids. <br />March 26, 2019 Bid Awarded to J.S. Cates. <br />Financial Impact: The attached Change Order 3 adjusts the substantial completion date to November <br />27, 2019. This change order includes costs totaling $21,697 for <br /> Providing and installing two new Solatube Skylights ($15,039); <br /> Replacing three existing plastic roof drain domes with new cast iron or aluminum domes ($665); <br />and <br /> Rerouting drain piping at two new roof drains ($5,993). <br />The original contract amount, which was based on estimated quantities, was $801,000 with a prior <br />change order (Change Order 2) increasing this amount to $809,294. With these new changes, as <br />outlined above, the contract will be adjusted to $830,991. Please see attached Change Order for details. <br />Explanation: This project involves the replacement of the roof on City Hall located at 803 Old Highway <br />8. This roof was last replaced in 2005 and has reached the end of its service life. Currently, the existing <br />roof is in disrepair, leaking in some spots, and has other deficiencies consistent with its age. The area <br />proposed to be replaced is approximately 9,700 square feet. The existing EPDM roof will be replaced <br />with a built‐up roof, which has become the City standard. Additional improvements including the <br />replacement of two roof top HVAC units, two boilers, and an architectural skylight are also included in <br />the project. <br />Report Number: <br />Agenda Section: Consent <br />Report Date: 11/19/2019 <br />Council Meeting Date: 11/26/2019
