Proclamation Recognizing Steven Fedor’s One Millionth Step. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to approve a <br />Proclamation Recognizing Steven Fedor’s One Millionth Step. <br /> <br />Public Safety Director Paetznick explained Steve Fedor suffered a sudden cardiac arrest event in his home in <br />2017. He stated thanks to his family members who took quick action to perform CPR and for calling 911, <br />Mr. Fedor’s life was saved. He reported Mr. Fedor has made a tremendous comeback with his health and the <br />City would be recognizing him for taking 1,000,000 steps in the past two years. <br />Mayor Johnson read a proclamation in full for the record recognizing Steven Fedor for taking his one <br />millionth step on his prosthetic leg. A round of applause was offered by all in attendance. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen congratulated Mr. Fedor for his hard work and tenacious resolve. <br />Councilmember Burg congratulated Mr. Fedor on this great accomplishment. <br />Councilmember Allen commended Mr. Fedor for his great efforts and for helping other veterans with <br />prosthetic legs. <br />Mrs. Fedor thanked the City for recognizing her husband. She stated this ordeal has been a very big struggle <br />but she indicated she was very proud of her husband for making such a strong recovery. She requested the <br />Council to give him a salute as he exits the City Council Chambers. The City Council stood and saluted Mr. <br />Fedor. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br /> <br />2. Annual Report from Public Safety Commission Chair Geoff Hollimon. <br /> <br />Acting City Manager Massopust explained Public Safety Commission Chair Geoff Hollimon had a report for <br />the City Council. <br />Public Safety Commission Chair Geoff Hollimon provided the Council with an annual report. He explained <br />the Public Safety Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. He <br />discussed how efficiently the Public Safety Department worked on behalf of the community. He reviewed <br />the accomplishments from the Public Safety Commission in 2019 and noted the items that were discussed <br />each month. He reported in the coming year the Public Safety Commission would be supporting the 2020 <br />Census Committee, considering municipal parking regulations, reviewing traffic and pedestrian safety <br />concerns, considering a 25 mile per hour residential speed limit, continued monitoring of the Police body <br />worn camera program, reviewing traffic stop data, along with supporting fire and life safety enhancements in <br />local apartment buildings. He thanked the Council for their time and asked for comments or questions. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated this was a great Commission that engaged in meaningful discussions. He <br />thanked Chair Hollimon for being a great leader for this group. <br />Councilmember Burg thanked Chair Hollimon for a great presentation. She believed New Brighton was an <br />exceptional community that was supported by a wonderful Public Safety Department. Further discussion <br />ensued regarding how the Public Safety Commission would be reaching out to the community in order to <br />support the 2020 Census Committee. <br />Councilmember Allen thanked Chair Hollimon for his dedicated service to the community. <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
