Mayor Johnson summarized the discussion noting the Council would support the Commissions selecting their <br />own Chair and Vice Chair and that the Council liaisons should be more involved if problems or issues should <br />arise. She then turned the discussion to the Commission interview process. <br />Councilmember Allen stated he liked the process that has been followed because it gave the Council a good <br />glimpse into the applicants. <br />Further discussion ensued regarding the Commission interview process. <br />Mayor Johnson supported the Council reviewing the questions that were asked during the Commission <br />interviews. <br />Councilmember Burg commented on the importance of having Commission members maintain a level of <br />professionalism when serving the City. <br />Mayor Johnson suggested she meet with Massopust to review the Commission interview questions and make <br />improvements. The Council supported this recommendation. <br />Councilmember Allen questioned how the Council would feel about breaking off the Environmental portion of <br />PREC to its own Commission. <br />Councilmember Burg stated there were a lot of opportunities for the City to address environmental and <br />sustainable options for the City. She recommended PREC hold a worksession to discuss what sustainability <br />options the City should address. <br />Mayor Johnson agreed the Council could be more mindful in what items the Commissions could be tasked <br />with addressing. <br />Councilmember Burg commented she would like the Council to discuss an Inclusive Community or Diversity <br />Task Force. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated he was worried about creating another Committee or Task Force given the fact <br />more staff time would be needed, along with a Council liaison. <br />Councilmember Allen indicated he was also interested in an Inclusive Community Task Force. <br />Mayor Johnson stated when the budget was considered for 2020 the Council axed the Inclusive Community <br />Task Force when it did not hire more staff members. She thanked the Council for their feedback on this topic <br />and recommended staff bring this topic back to the Council at a future worksession meeting. <br />Worksession adjourned at 6:08 pm <br />y submitted, <br />Saba Daniloff <br />Deputy City Clerk <br />
