Consider a Resolution Approving a revised Preliminary Planned Residential <br />Development for the Benedictine Health Center at 1101 Black Oak Drive. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Allen to Adopt a Resolution <br />Approving a revised Preliminary Planned Residential Development for the Benedictine Health Center <br />at 1101 Black Oak Drive. <br /> <br />City Manager Massopust indicated Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola <br />would be presenting this item to the Council. <br />Assistant Director of Community Assets and Development Gozola reviewed the revised Preliminary Planned <br />Residential Development for the Benedictine Health Center at 1101 Black Oak Drive. It was noted the site <br />currently had 82 units and after redeveloping the site, the number of units would be increased to 204 units <br />with 210 parking spaces. City staff supported the proposed changes and noted the garbage/large truck <br />deliveries would be better managed by the facility. It was noted the location of the main entrance would now <br />be coming off of 27th Avenue. The elevations of the site were reviewed with the Council along with the <br />findings of support. Staff reported the Planning Commission held a public hearing at their meeting on April <br />21st and recommended approval of the request, along with consideration of a sidewalk and no parking signs <br />along 27th Avenue. It was noted the safety concerns along 27th Avenue would be sent to the Public Safety <br />Commission for further consideration. <br />Mayor Johnson stated this would be a stellar looking development and great addition to the community. <br />Councilmember Burg stated housing was a critical need for the community and she fully supported the <br />proposed development. <br />Councilmember Allen indicated this was a great looking project and was a great investment in the <br />community. He discussed how this project would allow New Brighton residents to stay and age in the <br />community. He thanked everyone who worked on this project and for finding a solution that addressed the <br />concerns that had been raised by the neighbors. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported he was pleased the entrance has been moved to 27th Avenue. He <br />explained this project was a win-win for the future as it would provide a continuity of care for aging adults in <br />New Brighton. He thanked staff and the staff at the Benedictine Health Center for all of their efforts to find a <br />solution that not only fit the neighborhood but fit New Brighton. <br /> <br />A roll call vote was taken. 5 Ayes, 0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> <br />4. Consider Resolution Filling the City Council Vacancy. <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg recused herself from this item. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Allen, seconded by Councilmember Dunsworth to Adopt a Resolution <br />Filling the City Council Vacancy. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson reported the City Council interviewed six candidates for the City Council vacancy and was <br />recommending the appointment of Nasreen Fynewever for the position. <br />Councilmember Dunsworth stated she was very encouraged by the candidates that had applied <br />to serve the City. She explained the City Council was very fortunate to have such a great pool <br />of residents stepping forward and being willing to serve.
