inclusive community. <br />City Manager Massopust reported the City Council has been focused on holding public engagement <br />sessions to gain feedback from the community. <br />A member of the community encouraged the Council to consider holding a future listening session <br />during the day or on the weekends for those individuals that work in the evenings. <br />A member of the community stated she has had a great experience with the police department through <br />numerous community events. She reported the police were welcoming and friendly. She appreciated <br />the police departments efforts during National Night Out and how they reached out to the community. <br />She indicated she would like to see evidence of how the City was working to address the <br />recommendations of the Inclusive Community Task Force. She indicated the issues in the community <br />were not just with the police, but rather there were other systemic issues that had to be addressed that <br />would positively impact New Brighton. <br />A member of the community stated he loves living in New Brighton and appreciated the collaborative <br />efforts that were occurring in the City. He recommended the information from the partnerships that <br />were already in place be made available to the public. He wanted to learn how the police was working <br />with multi-unit property owners. Lastly, he thanked the City for putting this meeting together. <br />A member of the community stated she has lived in New Brighton for two years. She explained <br />Roseville recently held a discussion at the Roseville Public Library on trauma informed care. She <br />indicated she was a nurse educator. She stated there was a growing need to build a community that had <br />skills and a shared mental model on what trauma informed care looked like. She discussed all of the <br />major events that have occurred in the last year and stated the community should not rely only the <br />police to respond to people’s trauma. She recommended a history of New Brighton be learned about <br />and untangled for the community to better understand. <br />A member of the community expressed concern about the apartments on 14th and how these residents <br />were impacted. She encouraged the City Council to consider putting an ordinance in place that would <br />keep this from happening again. <br />Meg Robertson stated she was the manager of the Ramsey County Librar y. She explained she could <br />work within the library system to bring a trauma informed care session to New Brighton, noting this <br />would have to be through a virtual meeting. She reported the library system partners with the historical <br />society and she always appreciated partnerships. <br />The major themes of the listening session were reviewed by Ruben Vazquez.
