CARES Funding Update <br />Massopust provided the Council with an update on the CARES Funding. He reported the City received $1.7 <br />million in CARES Act dollars on July 29th. He explained an internal CARES Committee was formed and has <br />been meeting weekly to better understand how these dollars can be spent. He reviewed a list of qualifying <br />expenses and noted the funds must be spent by November 15th. He stated staff and the Public Safety <br />Department has been tracking expenses surrounding PPE, payroll costs, built environment, and technology. <br />He commented there has also been a focus on community support with CARES dollars which would include <br />residential rent/mortgage relief and business assistance. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen asked if the City would be able to utilize the $1.7 million in CARES Act dollars of if <br />the majority of these funds would be given back to Ramsey County.
