November 12, 2020 Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof, a special meeting of the New Brighton City Council was held Thursday, <br />November 12, 2020 at 6:30 pm at the New Brighton City Hall in New Brighton, MN. Due to the <br />COVID-19 pandemic this hybrid meeting was held both virtually and in person. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Johnson, Councilmembers Allen, Dunsworth, Fynewever, and Jacobsen <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Also Present: Devin Massopust-City Manager, Terri Spangrud-City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. <br /> <br />Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />Canvass the Results of the November 3, 2020 Municipal Election <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Allen to Certify 2020 <br />Municipal Election Results. <br /> <br />City Manager Massopust stated the City Clerk has worked with Ramsey County Elections to prepare an <br />Abstract of Election Returns that details results from New Brighton’s 2020 Municipal Election. <br />This canvassing report includes City‐wide results and statistics as well as results and statistics <br />from individual precincts. When satisfied that the abstract report is correct, every member of <br />the City Council, acting as the Canvassing Board, signs the abstract and the unofficial results <br />become the official election results. <br />City Clerk Spangrud discussed the number of absentee voters that took part in the 2020 <br />municipal election. She explained because there was such a large number of voters that <br />participated absentee, the numbers at the polls on election day were manageable. She stated she <br />appreciated the fact New Brighton residents had been cooperative and respectful while voting. <br />She thanked all 176 election judges that served during the recent election, noting 98 were new <br />election judges. She thanked all City department members for assisting with the election by <br />posting signage, delivering voting materials, procuring phones, supervising voting audits, <br />answering phone calls on web chats, and making boundary maps. Lastly, she thanked the <br />13,855 New Brighton voters that took part in the recent election. Staff reviewed the results of <br />the municipal election noting Kari Neidfeldt-Thomas had been elected Mayor and Abdullahi <br />Abdulle and Pam Axberg were Councilmember Elects.
