<br /> <br />V. Report from Council Liaison <br />Councilmember Allen provided the EDC with an update from the City Council. He reviewed the <br />most recent addition of the City newsletter with the Commission and discussed the project that <br />was completed at Hanson Park. He thanked all who New Brighton residents who turned out to <br />vote on November 6th. He commented on the Dominium/Pulte Open House and noted the City <br />Council would meet next on November 13th. <br />VI. Business Items <br />A. Comprehensive Plan Final Overview <br />Gozola provided the EDC with an overview on the final Comprehensive Plan. He discussed how <br />the Comprehensive Plan would guide the City over the coming decade and reviewed the City’s <br />eight visioning goals. The areas of the community slated for future redevelopment were <br />described. <br />Discussion included: <br /> Land use categories of future redevelopment sites was discussed. <br /> The Commission stressed the importance of local businesses and their continued future <br />success. <br /> Staff described how the Comprehensive Plan would be communicated to the public. <br />Motion by Commissioner Carter, seconded by Commissioner Luong to recommend the City <br />Council accept the final draft of the Comprehensive Plan . <br />Approved 5-0 <br />B. Hotel Study Update <br />Schlichting reported in September, the EDC listened to presentations from Ryan Companies, <br />Colliers International and BARR Engineering regarding options for Block B, and the Commission <br />indicated that broadening the scope of potential uses to include hotels was advisable. Staff <br />received Council approval to undertake a hotel market study, and hired HVS to complete this <br />work. It was noted HVS has initiated the hotel market study. Staff provided the EDC with an <br />update on the initial findings and stated the City would know more by early January. <br />C. New Brighton Elementary School Updates <br />Schlichting stated on Thursday, October 25th Dominium and Pulte held a neighborhood <br />meeting to get initial feedback from surrounding property owners on their anticipated <br />development. Staff reviewed the feedback and concerns discussed at this meeting. He <br />reviewed the next steps relating to the site plan and commented on the finalization of funding <br />sources for this project. <br />Discussion included: <br /> Traffic control measures surrounding the New Brighton Elementary School were <br />discussed.
